Description

A "hands-on" workshop that challenges participants to determine the components of successful engaged learning activities and to develop an engaged learning activity that matches up with a least one Illinois Learning Standard.

Objective

Participants will experience the development of engaged learning activities that include the use of technology, matching up activities with the Illinois Learning Standards, and motivating students to learn.

Definition

Engaged learning is work that stimulates curiosity, permits students to express creativity, and fosters positive relationships with others. It is also work at which students are good. (from a study completed by Richard Strong and associates, 1995)

The training will be located at Illinois Office of Educational Services in Springfield, IL or another arranged site.

Cost

IOES: $50/person (includes coffee and lunch)
On-Site: $1,000 plus travel expenses
